In Loving Memory

Ed Barker

April 6, 1948 - April 25, 2024

Tribute

William Edward “Ed” Barker, a longtime resident of Daphne, AL, passed away in a local hospital on April 25, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born in Mobile, AL to William Earl Barker and Willie Faye Johnson Barker.

Ed was a graduate of the University of South Alabama, majoring in Political Science.

For nineteen years he worked for Ward’s International Trucks as a sales associate until he retired. He loved people so he decided he would go back to work, but only part-time. He enjoyed working at Hertz Car Rental in Daphne and was there for nine years.

In his earlier years, Ed loved the outdoors. He loved running and ran in every 5k race he could. He also enjoyed scuba diving, kayaking, and deep-sea fishing. But more than anything, he loved the Lord and his family and his two fur-babies.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his daughter, Wendie Cherice Barker and his brother-in-law, Douglas Charles Osborne.

Ed will be deeply missed by his wife of forty years, Karen Mosley Barker; sons, Joseph Stephen (Melissa) Ghannam of Orlando, Florida, and William Zachary Barker of Daphne; his sister, Sylvia Barker Osborne of Mobile; and his mother and father-in-law, Don and Joann Mosely of Daphne. Also surviving are his nieces, Kathi Osborne and Shari Lord; his beloved fur babies, Ginger and Gracie; and many other friends and relative. Ed will also be lovingly remembered by his friends at Hertz Car Rental Company.

Karen and the family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and the entire ICU staff of USA Heath University Hospital in Mobile and a special thank you to Dr. Anthony Martino.

A Celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11AM in the Theater at City Hope Church, 29964 St. Basil Street in Daphne. Visitation will begin at 10AM.

Though Ed’s family welcomes flowers, they are asking that you consider memorial donations be made to:  https://cityhope.cc/kingdom-builders.

Eddie had a jolly laugh and a smile that would light up a room! His love for Karen and his sons was evident to all. We enjoyed many fun times at the beach and boating with he and Karen. Enjoyed ringing in the New Year with you this year. You’ll be missed friend…see you in heaven.
