Eileen Callahan Sledge, a native of New York and resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the age of 86.

Eileen was a devoted mother of six children and a lifelong homemaker, whose greatest joy was caring for her family. A woman of deep and unwavering faith, she was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and found comfort and strength in prayer, especially praying the rosary. She cherished reading religious books and lived her life, guided by faith, love, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Eileen also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening and enjoyed puttering around her yard, tending to her plants and flowers. She also enjoyed creating beautiful flower arrangements. She was a great admirer of the music of Barbra Streisand, whose songs brought her much joy throughout the years.

Above all else, Eileen was a dedicated family woman who considered her family to be life’s greatest blessing. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, holding them close to her heart and delighting in all they achieved. She was a very proud mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph, to whom she was married for 62 years.

She is survived by her six children, Catherine Feldmann, Joseph Sledge and his wife, Karen, Dennise Wolstenholme, and her husband, Derek, Bernadette Daya and her husband, Gabriel, Terrence Sledge, and Brian Sledge. She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren, Justin, Spencer, Matthew, Lauren, and Julia Feldmann; Frances, Jack, and Charlie Sledge; Rachael, Noah, Christopher, and Olivia Wolstenholme; Sophia and Gabriel Daya; as well as six great grandchildren, Braxton, Anna, Ellie Mae, and Wade Jenkins, Blaise and Henry Keyser.  Eileen is also survived by her older sister, Diane Wine; and her younger sister, Maryellen Pujol.

Eileen‘s life was a beautiful example of faith, devotion to Christ, and love of family. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1505 Main Street in Daphne, AL. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM in The Immaculata Center, 1601 Main Street Daphne, AL. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30AM in the church.

She will be laid to rest at 2:00PM at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 34904 AL Hwy. 225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527.
