Ellen G. Muhlfelder, formally of Natick, MA and Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully at her home in Daphne, AL on Friday, May 23, 2014. Ellen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Steven Muhlfelder; sons, Kurt (Lucie) Muhlfelder of Concord, NH, Michael (Debbie) Muhlfelder of Andover, MA and daughter, Sandy (Troy) Cooke of Spanish Fort, AL. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Ashley, Courtney, and Katie Cooke of Spanish Fort and Jacob and Hannah Muhlfelder of Andover, MA.  Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Emanual and Jean Glass, and her brother, Bernard Glass.

A 1960 graduate of Boston University School of Nursing, she also earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Framingham State University, in 1986. Ellen truly enjoyed a nursing career that spanned over 4 decades. A woman of faith, strength, and compassion, with a servant’s heart, she was always willing to do for others. Ellen had a love for reading, traveling, sports, and she was a fearless Scrabble player. Her family was the most important thing in her life and nothing gave her greater joy than her 5 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 12 noon at Temple Beth El, in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive relatives and friends and gather for a meal of consolation, immediately following the service,

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations are made in Ellen’s memory to Levine Children’s Hospital, 1000 Blythe Ave. Charlotte, NC 28203 or Temple Beth El, 5101 Providence Rd. Charlotte, NC 28226.
