Emanuel (Manny) Pose passed away on September 23, 2025, just four days before his 82nd birthday.

Manny came from a long line of Poses in Point Clear, beginning with his great-grandfather, Jaoquine Pose. Jaoquine and his brother, Lewis, arrived by ship from Spain to Mobile, Alabama. They left the ship, crossed the bay, and camped beneath a large oak tree—the site that later became the family home. Together they built the Blue Goose Saloon and Store and began the family tradition of living off the bay: fishing, crabbing, raking oysters, and shrimping.

In 1901, Emanuel Martinez Pose married Nellie Elizabeth Dana Pose (Manny’s beloved grandmother), who remained the matriarch of the family until her passing in 1976. Manny’s father, Percy Joseph Pose, later married Mae Eernisse Pose, whose family had moved from Iowa. They had seven children, Ethel Mae, Patsy, Rosalie, Joseph, Doris, Percy Jr., and Manny. Manny’s sister, Rosalie Pose Currier, is his only surviving sibling.

Manny is survived by his son, Emanuel M. Pose (PJ); his daughter, Shirley Searcy; his granddaughters, Jasmine Music, Alyssa Kay Pose and Karyssa Kay Pose; his grandson, Christopher Emanuel Pose; and his devoted companion of 20 years, Paula Lindberg. He is also remembered with love by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, each with their own treasured stories of “Uncle Manny.”

A proud Navy Veteran, Manny was also a life member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 55.

A graveside service will be held at Point Clear Cemetery, 5897 Pine Grove Drive, Point Clear, Alabama, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00AM.
