Rev. Gerald Wilbur (Bill) Haring, age 98, born in Marquette, Michigan and a longtime resident of Fairhope, died Sunday, March 13, 2022.  Mr. Haring was a veteran of the US Marine Corps during the latter part of World War II serving in China and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He and his first wife, Esther, were missionaries for 17 years in Michoacan, Mexico.  In 2019 he published a book entitled, “Footprints, My First 90 Years” which is available on Amazon.

Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Esther L. Olson Haring; son, Paul William Haring; daughter, Lois Ruth Haring and both of his parents and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine J. Hanrath and children, Glenn (Tina) Haring of Daphne, AL; Mary H. Purvis, Guatemala Land Zone and Janice (Quentin) Adams of Brandon, MS.  Bill also has 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many loving friends.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, AL, with funeral services at begin at 1:30 p.m.  Interment with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope, 19250 S Greeno Rd, Fairhope, AL.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Rudy’s Hands at https://www.rudyshands.com/
