Guy Thomas Powell, Jr. 69, a resident of Theodore, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 in a local hospital. He was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, wounded while serving his country in Vietnam in 1966. Guy became a jeweler and worked for Zale’s Jewelers in Colonial Mall Bel Air for many years until he retired. He will be remembered for having great sense of humor, and his big love for Auburn football. War Eagle!
Surviving are one son, Guy T. “Tucker” Powell, III (Tanis Harcey) of Mobile; one daughter, Wendy Powell (Belinda Howard), Mobile; two sisters, Belva Jack Andrews of Ocala, Florida and Ina Laura Pittman of Charleston, West Virginia and three grandchildren, Daniel, Rome and Stone and many other friends and relatives.
Services for Guy will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama at a time soon to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 900 Western America Drive, Mobile, AL 36609, www.cancer.org or any local veteran’s organization. I am so sorry to hear of Guy’s passing. It has been many years since we last saw each other. I always loved him and his offbeat humor. He could always make me laugh. Rest in peace Guy. You were loved. Much love to all of his family.
