Harry Godfrey Maddison, III, of Fairhope died peacefully on March 5, 2019, at 86, having long and bravely battled heart failure. Born January 9, 1933, in Chicago, IL, Maddison was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy. Harry began his career as a printer in Rockford, IL but later found his calling in sales, working 24 years as a leading salesman for Alabama Power in Mobile and Southeast Alabama. He was a proud member of the American Legion, the Heritage Foundation, the Alabama Republican Party, St. Francis Episcopal Church and the Alabama Power Energizers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susan Schill Maddison; sister, Joyce Dawson; daughter, Mary Asenath (Sena) Maddison of Pensacola, FL; son, Jonathan Harry Bernard Maddison, daughter-in-law Shellie Bockemuehl Maddison; and grandchildren, Theodosia A. Tharpe, Corbin Maddison and Audrey Maddison of Fairhope, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Godfrey Maddison, Jr. and Irene Bishop Maddison; and his sister, Harriet (Sally) Maurer.
Services will be held Monday, March 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis at the Point Anglican Church, Point Clear, AL, and the family will receive guests afterward in the Parish Hall. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Highway 225, Spanish Fort, AL.
