Helen Marie Hubbs, 102, of Fairhope, passed away, February 23, 2017.  Helen was born in Clinton, Iowa and moved to California in 1932 with her mother and sister.  She moved to Fairhope in 2004 on the condition she have her own home and a pet Bijon.  Both were achieved.  Her interests were children, animals, music, sports, nature, and the arts.  She volunteered at the National Assistance League in Laguna Beach for many years.  She played a great game of golf in her earlier life and then went on to play a mean game of bridge.  Helen was a great hostess, especially for family gatherings and the annual Christmas Boat Parade in Newport Beach. She often remarked that she felt fortunate to have been alive during a time of great progress in our Country.  Helen was a smart, fun loving, busy lady her whole life.  She was known as “GiGi” and “Triple G” by her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Judith Wilder (Marvin), Marsha Karr, and Fred Olson.  She leaves five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Private memorial services will be held later at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.  Memorial donations can be made to: Presbyterian Children’s Home, 905 Ashland Hwy, Talladega, AL 35160 or Baldwin County Humane Society, 22886 US 98 C, Fairhope, AL 36532.  Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.
