Henry Earl Horton, a native of Belforest, Alabama and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the age of 71.
Henry was a graduate of Fairhope High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. He was a skilled carpenter, taught by his father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Henry loved fishing, hunting, boating and go-karting. He helped shape Mobile County by helping construct the Cochrane-Africatown Bridge and the Wallace Tunnel.
Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Karen Manning Horton; his father, Earl Horton, Jr.; his mother, Velma Lorene Watson Horton; two sisters, Mary Jo Lund and Earline Eubanks; and two brothers, Doug Horton and Mike Horton.
He is survived by his daughter, Jillian Zero of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Jayson Matthew Ames and Madelynn Grace Ames of Daphne, AL; many nieces and nephews; his best friends, Edward Allen and Lori Kier; his beloved dog, Sadie; and his many friends at the American Legion Post 199.

Henry was the best friend a person could have. He loved his daughter and grandchildren beyond measure. If something was broken he could fix it. He was reliable, honest, kind, generous. He had an easy laugh,deserved every happiness. I will miss him, terribly.
My friend and brother far over 51 years. My fishing partner Lord, i miss you so much.
He was the best grandpa I could ever ask for. He’s the reason I’m a proud and talkative person. He helped me become the caring person today and I owe my personality to him. Thank you Pawpaw and I will miss you.
Henry was a great friend of mine. He loved my children. Every time he came over he brought popsicles for us all. I lost my husband shortly after he lost his wife and he was there for a shoulder to cry on. He will be deeply missed
