Henry Paul Loftin, Jr., a native of Mississippi and Louisiana, and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the age of 83.

Henry graduated from Fortier High School (New Orleans, LA) in 1960. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry (1965) from Southeastern Louisiana College, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.  He also earned his PhD in chemistry from Louisiana State University in 1969.

Henry had many professions during his life.  He was a chemist, a plant manager, “corporate bureaucrat” (his words), college instructor, and home plan designer.  His hobbies included woodworking, piloting small aircraft, building model airplanes, and reading.

Henry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carolyn Chalona Loftin; his parents, Henry Paul Loftin, Sr., and Mary Ruth Gandy Loftin; and sisters, Mary Ann Miller and Linda Loftin.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Joseph) Tate of Daphne, AL, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends at 10AM followed by the service at 10:30AM. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
