Inez Denina Houlsen Lewis was born on March 25, 1935, to the union of Louis Adolph and Annie Bell “Big Mama” Houlsen. Inez was called home on December 2, 2025.
Inez is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Adolph Houlsen and Annie Belle Houlsen; and five sisters, Annie Louise McCray, Alice Padgett, Zeola Dixon, Celestine Ephraim and Addlean Brown; and one brother, A.D. Houlsen.
Inez will be deeply missed by her children, Edward, Mickey, Sylvia, Samuel, and especially by her devoted caregivers, Andre and Sharon Lewis. As well as, her fifteen grandchildren, five of which she raised, Samantha, Kyle, and Aaron Lewis, Joi’nell Artieda and Mayalynn Reid; as well as Douglas Lewis (Linda); siblings, Paul Houlsen, Raymond Houlsen and Penny Coleman; and a host of great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Inez attended Baldwin County Training School. She retired from the Baldwin County Public School System as a cafeteria worker.
