It is with a heavy heart the family of Jaclyn Aucoin Grodzicki announces her passing after a long battle with illness on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 83 years of age. Jaclyn was born on March 2, 1937 in Mobile, Alabama, and resided for more than 50 years in Baldwin County, Alabama. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Joey (Valla), Jacelyn (Tim) and Claire (Allison). Jaclyn, and will also be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren, Holly, Jordan (Sean), Callie (Chris), Julia, Luke, Lilly; her two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Charlie; and by her sister, Carol Ralphe. Jaclyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Lawrence (Larry) Eugene Grodzicki; her parents, Gibbs Alfred (“Jack”) Aucoin and Lillian Marie Mahé, as well as by her siblings, Yvonne Aucoin Stevens and Joseph Alexander Aucoin.
Jackie graduated from Bishop-Toolen High School in 1955 and worked at Spring Hill College in the registrar’s office immediately following. During that time, she met her husband, Larry, on a blind date with friends while he was attending flight school in Pensacola, and the two became inseparable after that, marrying on November 27, 1958 at Saint Joseph’s Chapel on the Spring Hill College Campus. Jaclyn was an avid tennis player, spending many of her years playing and winning matches alongside friends at Lake Forest Racquet Club, Flying Creek Tennis Club and Lakewood Tennis Club. When she wasn’t playing tennis, she was enjoying a glass of champagne and watching the sunset over Mobile Bay with her husband. We are certain we will feel both she and Larry’s presence in sunsets for years to come.
Jaclyn and her late husband, Larry, will be remembered together as one on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope, Alabama. Immediately following the funeral mass, the interment will be held at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama, where Jaclyn and Larry will both be laid to rest, though their souls are already rejoicing with the Lord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
We welcome all family and friends who wish to attend the services. Please note COVID-19 protocols will be in place in order to keep everyone safe. Distance will be maintained in the church and masks are required.
