James “Jimmy” William Elliott, Jr., a lifelong resident of Spanish Fort, AL, entered Heaven on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Jimmy graduated as Salutatorian from Fairhope High School in 1968 and went on to earn a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Alabama, graduating as the Valedictorian of the class of 1972. He was recognized on multiple occasions by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers for his contributions to the field and was featured in Who’s Who in the World for his professional achievements.
His deep love for Spanish Fort and its natural beauty inspired him to serve for many years on the Baldwin County Zoning and Planning Commission, working to preserve the community he cherished.
Outside of his career, Jimmy devoted himself to family and embracing life fully. He was passionate about Costa Rica, Alabama football, and his involvement with the Mystic Stripers Mardi Gras organization. He passed on to his children and grandchildren a profound appreciation for nature and travel, creating countless memories through hiking, snorkeling, and fishing—especially on the Delta, a place that held special meaning for him. He was a fixture at sporting events, from road trips to watch the Tide with loved ones, to coaching youth sports, and later cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines.
Of all the titles Jimmy held, none meant more to him than “PawPaw.” He adored his grandchildren and spoiled them at every opportunity—they were his greatest pride and joy. Kyleigh, Savannah, Adrian, Isaiah, Tommy, Lauren, LiviCole, and Tatum: “PawPaw loves you!”
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James William Elliott Sr. and Myrtle Jo Elliott, and his sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Elliott.
He is survived by his daughter, Paj Aline Elliott Pron (Stephan) of Fombell, PA; his son, Peyton Tommy Powell (Samantha) of Foley, AL; and his eight grandchildren, who will carry his legacy forward, Kyleigh, Savannah, Adrian, and Isaiah Pron, Tommy, Lauren, LiviCole, and Tatum Powell. He also leaves behind his brother, Steven Elliott (Guyton) of San Clemente, CA; his nephew, Jason Elliott (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
The family invites all who loved Jimmy to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at 5872 Battleship Parkway, Spanish Fort, AL 36527.

Jimmy these coming days without you in our midst will be tough at first as we miss you & the good times we all spent together from our FHS days through recent times – but we are all assured you are at peace & totally without pain! I will truly miss all our conversations & discussions because we could always get to the core of any matter we discussed, be it professional or personal, just like Brothers…. “JimBob” you will always be with us & I am sure we will always save a place at Felix’s Fish Camp for you!!
Jimmy was my best friends big brother, so, he was my “big brother” too! Jimmy was such a fun guy, never saw him mad or upset. Rest in peace Jimmy, you fought the good fight!

Our condolences to all his family and friends and especially to our neighbors up in here in PA, the Pron family. They will surely miss him so very much. We all enjoyed his visits to Fombell, especially during the holidays. “Jimmy” was an amazing, warm person and so fun to be around. He sure loved Paj and all his grandchildren. He loved to talk about them. A piece of him will always be in their hearts to guide them through life. Rest in peace Jimmy… You will be deeply missed here on earth. May God bless you and your family.
