Janice L Nix, a resident of Daphne, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, Alabama. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10AM followed by the service at 11AM. Interment will follow at the Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

Janice was a devoted wife to John D Nix, who preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Neely and Ruby Peacock; her sister, Doris Smith; and her brothers, Everette and John Peacock. She is survived by 3 sons, Mike (Cindy) Nix of Mobile, AL, Tommy (Keith Hobbs) Nix of Daphne, AL and Tony (Jo Ann) Nix of Daphne, AL. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Janice was a devoted Christian who held a deep and unwavering commitment to Christ. She spent many years teaching Sunday school, was actively involved in WMU and also taught Vacation Bible School and GAs.

Other than church, her focus was on her family. She often invited family and friends to her home for good food and fellowship. She and John D loved to travel to the Smokey Mountains, for years staying in hotels. Eventually they bought a travel trailer and spent weeks upon weeks in the Smokies with their children.

Janice and John D also participated in state and national conventions for the Rural Mail Carriers Association. They enjoyed their time there, and as a result made many lifelong friends.
