Jason James Christian, age 43, was called to his Heavenly home on Friday, March 18, 2022, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is now completely healed and resting in the arms of Jesus, but more likely fishing with Peter or golfing with the Apostle Paul.
Jason was a lifelong resident of Alabama, but for the past five years he resided in Daphne. He moved from his birthplace in Montgomery to Foley where he attended high school. There he would meet one of his lifelong best friends, Michael Rachel. The entire Rachel family loved him, Kate, and the children as their own.
Jason served in the Marine Corps Reserves and earned an engineering degree from Auburn University. If you had the privilege of knowing Jason – you already know his long list of accomplishments and he would not want them mentioned. If you didn’t know him, he would only want you know a few things. His greatest accomplishment was nothing he did, but what was done for him – His Savior, Jesus Christ, dying on a cross to save him from his sins. Jason was able to endure his greatest heartache and pain here on Earth knowing that the suffering was only for a brief time, and he would soon experience the Glory of Heaven.
His children and wife, Kate, were the light of his life. He spent every day creating a wonderful life for them and cracking jokes along the way. Loving God and his family were his top priority. It brought him so much joy to give back to others in this community and around the world. He loved his GeoCon and Resurrection Church families. There was an undeniable special bond with his Pastor, Barry Carpenter.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Rebecca Christian; his maternal grandfather, J. W. Elliott- his Pawpaw who he loved dearly; his father, Kenneth Christian; and sisters, Alicia Christian Lake and Cyndi Christian Peterson.
Left to cherish Jason’s memory and continue his legacy are the loves of his life, his devoted wife, Kate Elizabeth Christian; his precious children, Luke, Dillion, Gracey Christian and Gavin King; his proud and loving mother, Kathleen Christian; grandmother, Robbie Elliott; brother, Alan Christian (Sherrie); his nephew, Will Christian; and his aunt, Dale Sailors (Jerry). Other family members who were deeply touched by his life include his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Montgomery, AL and surrounding areas. He filled a special place in the hearts of all of Kate’s family including his sister-in- love, Kelly Callen (Mike); mother-in-love, Lydia Pettijohn, affectionately known as Ms. Haun; and his three favorite curly girls, Grace, Emma and Amelia, who adored their Uncle JJ; and The Rea and Henderson families hold especially fond memories of their brother in Christ, Jason.
As many people struggle to understand why God would take such a good man so soon, may this scripture minister to your heart.
Isaiah 57:1-2 – “The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.”
Jason was a blessing to everyone who knew him. He was a wonderful example of a life lived for others and service for the kingdom of God. We will greatly miss his quiet wit and loyal love, but we rejoice knowing we will see him again in Heaven. Rest in peace Jason- you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7).
