Jerry Wayne “Pete” Sones, 75, a native of Eupora, Mississippi and a resident of Daphne, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Pete was a talented multi-sport athlete, Eagle Scout, educator, coach and school administrator.  He was an accomplished artist and published author.  He enjoyed dogs, crossword puzzles and gardening.  But more important than all of that, he was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather, who will be missed by all who knew him.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Paul Sones; mother, Willis Lorene Dyer Sones; and his brother, Larry Paul Sones.   He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phoebe Cary Wooten Sones; children, Paul Gregory Sones (Tracy Boler) of Hernando, MS, Lisa Brooke Sones Vowell (Phillip) of Houston, TX, Beth Brandon Sones (James C. Rutledge, III) of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Vowell Davis (Andrew) of Cumming, GA, Hayden Sones Vowell of Atlanta, GA, Hannah Phoebe Rutledge, Emmelene Cardwell Rutledge and James C. Rutledge, IV all of Yorktown, VA; great-grandchildren, Callahan Williams Davis, and Poppy June Davis of Cumming, GA; along with other family members and friends.
