In Loving Memory

Jimmie Braswell

January 18, 1950 - March 12, 2022

Tribute

Jimmie Clyde Braswell died on March 12, 2022. He was born in Ware, Mississippi on January 18, 1950, to Dodis and Emma Ruth Braswell.  Jimmie was the third of four children.

He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Crystal Braswell; grandchildren, Jameson and Margeaux;, siblings, Larry Braswell, Joan Loutenhiser, and Jerry Braswell; and many nieces and nephews.

Over the course of his life, Jimmie was many things: a brother, a son, a friend, a father, a doting grandfather, a Navy Vet, a lifelong fan of the Florida Gators, a car aficionado, one heck of a mechanic, and a fisherman at heart.

He was most at peace when on or near the water and talked often in recent years of selling everything he owned to spend the last of his days living on a boat. As such, his family plans to scatter his ashes in the Gulf in a small ceremony in June.

We love him, miss him, and hope he has found peace. His legacy will live on through his son, grandchildren and his ‘74 Cuda that, on a recent trip to California, he and his son got running again for the first time in more than 30 years. We’ll think of him every time that engine roars to life, every fall when the Gators take the field, each time we cast a line or lay a fresh oyster on a saltine cracker and whenever our feet are in the great blue Gulf.

Papaw, we’ll love and miss you for the rest of our days.
