Tribute

John “Jack” Joseph Costello, Sr., a native of Harlem, NYC, and a resident of Daphne, AL and Long Beach, New York, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 93.

Jack graduated from Pace University in New York City.  He served as Staff Sergeant in the Army in Korea in 1950.  He worked as vice president and head of the Bond Department at JP Morgan Bank in New York.  In his spare time, he enjoyed travelling, doing crossword puzzles and swimming.

Jack is preceded in death by his late wife, Clare Costello, and siblings, Mary, Margaret (David Coughlin), Frances and Gertrude.  He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marjorie “Peggy” Baumgartner Costello; his children, Susan Browne (James) of Eastchester, NY, John Costello (Jacqueline Hahn), of Babylon, NY, and Stephen Costello (Kathleen) of Chatham, NJ; grandchildren, Laura, Justin, Shaye and Nolan.

There will be a prayer service and time of remembrance on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 10:30AM at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, AL.

    I worked with Mr. Costello at JPMIM from 1984 until his retirement. I can never remember a moment he didn’t have a smile on his face. I learned a lot from him both in business and personally. He was cared for by all his colleagues and everyone had something nice to say about him. His pleasant demeanor hid a sharp mind and astute business sense which never failed him. We miss him greatly.
