John Oliver Broadus, 71, a native of Mobile and resident of Daphne, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014.  Mr. Broadus owned and worked as an independent electrical contractor as well as teaching 2 decades, retiring from Murphy Area Vocational Center.  He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Fairhope and was an avid Civil War enthusiast.

 Survivors include his wife, three children and other relatives and friends.  A celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. William Parsons officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am.  Donations in memory of Mr. Broadus may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at  Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL.

    For many years John was a dear friend. We started and ended our careers at Murphy High School together and I have a thousand memories of our adventures together. I will always remember his kindness, his humor and his love of life. My family and I wish to express our sincere sympathies to Martha and John’s children.
