Mr. Jay Chilton

Mr. Johnny W. “Jay” Chilton, age 77, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Opal Chilton, his brother Burley Chilton, and niece Shannon Brooks. Mr. Chilton served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as a dental technician, serving 2 years in Japan and finishing his tour at Brookley Field in Mobile, AL. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, Papa, and Grandpapa.

Mr. Chilton is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judith and his three children Jeanne Petrie (Vincent), Johnny Chilton (Tammy), and Julie Jackson (Gary);  nine grandchildren- Megan, Jeffrey, Melanie, Jennifer, Brandon, Dylan, Kelly, Ashley, Aimee and his five great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Madison, Bobby, Jacob, and Paisley will always remember waiting to hear his Peterbilt pull up in the drive after a long haul. He also leaves to honor his memory his brother Donald Chilton; sister-in-law Sandra Pierce (Frankie); two beloved cousins Glenn Medlin (Sharon) and Dean Medlin (Barbara), niece and nephews Heather, Eric, Donald, Ronald, Burley Jr., and James and grandnieces and nephews Haleigh, Morgan, Corbin and Matthew.

Funeral services will be held at Hughes Funeral Home in Daphne at 1:30pm, April 1, 2015.  The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30.  Officiating will be Chaplain Shawn Mizelle.  Interment will be in the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery.  Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory., 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL.
