Judith “Judy” DuBois Smith, née Judith Anne DuBois, age 72, of Daphne, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, after courageously battling breast cancer and went to her Heavenly home.
On January 13, 1948, the daughter of Eugene and Carolyn DuBois, Judy, was born in Beaufort, South Carolina. After marrying, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, then Charlotte, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, Mobile, Alabama and ultimately back to Atlanta, where the family resided for over 30 years. For the past seven years, she and her husband lived in Daphne, Alabama.
Judy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the light of her family’s life, who held her first thoughts. Due to her love for her family, she decided to place them before self and elected to pursue a career as being their mother. Every night, the family shared dinner together over her amazing home cooked meals. She was part of the PTA and present for all her children’s events. There was not a day that she did not hug her kids and tell them they could accomplish anything.
Judy’s second love was for the water. She competed in water skiing, where at times she was the top of the pyramid. She lived life to the fullest and loved to laugh, especially with her family and her bridge group. Perhaps her greatest joy was the love she shared for others, including the Lord, family, friends, grandchildren and even her grand puppies.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Robert David Smith. She is also survived by their children, Bryan (Ashley) Smith of Tampa, Florida, Jennifer (James Patrick) Whitehurst of Houston, Texas and Bogue (Claire) Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; and their grandchildren, Sydney, Taylor, Cayla, Cole, Jack and Jani; her brother, Michael (Beth) DuBois, as well as a large extended family and cherished lifelong friends.
On Saturday, May 30, 2020, family and friends are invited to gather at Jubilee Baptist Church at 9264 Pleasant Road in Daphne. The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service.
