In Loving Memory

Judy Crimmins

December 6, 1945 - January 3, 2024

Judy Riley Crimmins, a native of Abbeville, AL and a resident of Spanish Fort, AL, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of 78.

Judy was a registered nurse with a variety of positions.  She received her RN Degree from Spalding College and later went on to receive her MA from the University of South Alabama and taught as a nursing instructor at Bishop State University.  Judy was a teacher whether she was in a classroom or out, as she taught by example.

Judy married an infantry officer from Massachusetts, Walter J. Crimmins, on December 21, 1968, and they had an amazing, wonderful love story that lasted 55 years.  Judy followed Walter on many adventures in his military career from the United States to Germany and to Panama. They had two children, John and Kathleen, who she loved with all her heart and was so proud of who they have become.

Along the way, Judy built and nurtured lifelong friendships, family connections, and made a wonderful welcoming home. She inspired us, believed in us, and enabled us to dream big. She loved and nurtured the dreams of her family, and she did this for others too.

Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Walter J. Crimmins; her son, John; and her daughter, Kathleen; two brothers, Charles Glenn Riley (Scarlett) and Jerry Wayne Riley (Lainey); nieces, nephews, and church friends.

Judy will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing that she is with God, who she faithfully served.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1505 Main Street, Daphne, AL, at 11AM. There will be a time of visitation before the service beginning at 10AM in the Immaculata Center, Interment will follow at Belforest Catholic Cemetery.

Expressions of condolences for the family may be made at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.

Deacon Walt, I read on Fr. Chris Boutin’s Facebook page about your sweet Judy passing. Judy was such a inspiration to me whenever I saw you together at Mass, Dr. Nicki’s, Walmart…
I moved to Cullman, AL so I wasn’t aware of her passing nor her Funeral. My heartfelt prayers for you and your Family.

  10. Marie von Haas

    Dear Walt and family,
I am so sorry for your loss.
You and Judy were a positive influence on the von Haas family.
Walt and Judy were Godparents to Franz and Katherina at Fort Knox, KY 1984.
Military life separated our families and sadly it is at times like this that we are reconnected.
RIP be with God and Bruno who passed 25 OCT 2022.
