Julie Jaksen, age 83, a resident of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Julie was born on June 13, 1942, in Pennsylvania. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, a calling that perfectly matched her compassionate heart. A woman of incredible determination and vitality, Julie was also an avid runner who proudly completed eight marathons throughout the country.
Her deep Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She found great peace and joy in praying the rosary daily and was a devoted parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church, where she shared her leadership by managing the parish lectors for many years. Her 62-year marriage to her husband, Daniel, was a beautiful testament to enduring love, and her family was her ultimate pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Kenyon; her father, Louis Ferree; her stepfather Walter Kenyon; her brother, Barry Kenyon; her son-in-law, Ken May, and her brother-in-law, Dale Hunsicker.
Julie is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Daniel Jaksen; her children, Curtis Jaksen (Shellie), Cyndi May (Ken), and Cheri Stanford (Lee); her cherished grandchildren, Alison Jaksen, Jake Ogea, Grace Jaksen, Luke Ogea, and Josh May; and her sister, Valerie Bridegam (Jim).
A Rite of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Visitation will take place at the Immaculata Center from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be said in the church at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Archangel Radio (www.archangelradio.com), a Catholic ministry close to both Julie and Dan.
Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
Dearest Julie, You will be greatly missed. I love you and value our spiritual chats at our Sisters in Christ (Louise and me) on our rosary day. You were instantly liked before I even met you when you called to welcome me to the parish. No other parish had ever done that for me. I’ve enjoyed our long friendship. Thank you for asking me to be on the Welcome Committee, visiting new parishioners and having our welcome Sundays and to Lector. You deepened my faith with your spirituality. Rest in peace dear friend. I am certain you were catapulted in to Heaven to see the face of God. Please remember me and pray for me.
Julie and I were classmates for several years.l was sincerely saddened to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace an attain eternal life.

Julie and Patsy Ferris and myself Nancy Boyle Nall shared a good portion of our lives together. From kindergarten through grammar,high school and than nursing school together.
My fondest memory was she was a good dancer. We would meet at the sweet shop across from school and practice our jitterbug moves.
