Julius S. Hicks, a resident of Bay Minette, Alabama, passed away at home on May 7, 2026, at the age of 86.

Julius was born on November 17, 1939, in Walnut Hill, Florida. He is proceeded in death by his mother and father, eight brothers and sisters, and daughter, Debbie Hicks.

Julius served in the United States Air Force and served as an Army medic. After the military he went to the police academy to study criminal justice and became a police officer for the City of Saraland. Julius had the privilege to be Chief of Police for Wilmer, Alabama, and also worked with the state police for the Alabama State Docks. He also was an owner/operator for Hick’s Transport Service.

He is survived by his two sons, Raymond (Kim) Hicks, and Arthur (Susan) Hicks, both residents of Mobile, AL; and his four grandchildren, Ellis (Emily), Hicks, Amberly (Logan) Anderson, Cassie (Chris) Woodham, and Josh Franklin. Julius also was blessed with seven great grandchildren, Selina, James, Noah, Hadley, Jackson, Jack, and Claire. He also leaves behind his sister, Eva (Johnny) Dyson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and finally, his favorite kitty cat Kirkie.

Julius loved all his family and friends including his very best friend, Mary Hicks. He loved to meet her for dinner and visit different churches gospel singings.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, at 12PM. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends at 11AM. Interment will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
