Karen Nadine Miller, 70 born in Shelbyville, IN, and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2014 in a local hospital.  She was a member of Fountain Indiana Christian Church, was employed in restaurant management for many years and a member of the “Jokers Wild” Mardi Gras Organization.  Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Frances Stevens, her brothers, Keith Dewayne Stevens and Larry Reid Stevens. 

Surviving are two sons, David (Lanna) Gordy, Waldron, IN and Billy (Sheri) Gordy, Mobile, AL;  two daughters, Melissa A. Gordy, Mobile, AL, Tammie (Bobby) Newkirk, Shelbyville, IN and Christy Gordy, Ishpeming, MI;  grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Stacy, Gabby, Roger, Brittany, Brandon, Brandy (Paul), Alayna, Taylor and Jayna; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Laurie) Stevens, Maypearl, TX;  her aunt, Greta Planick, Ocala, FL;  her best friend of over fifty years, Joan Bassett, Shelbyville, IN; her dog, Patch and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the American Legion Post 88, 2663 Halls-Mill Rd., Mobile, AL 36606.  A celebration of her life will be held in Shelbyville at a time to be announced in September.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org/donate.  Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL  36526.

    Karen, I’m going to miss you dearly. Especially our long talks. I told you things I just couldn’t share with anyone else. You were such a good listener.
    You’ll be making your famious potatoe salad in heaven.
