In Loving Memory

Kelly Kay Blackmon

July 11, 1970 - April 2, 2024

Kelly Kay Blackmon, 53, of Orange Beach, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 2, 2024.

Kelly was an amazing woman being a loving daughter, a wife, a daughter-in-law, a mother, a stepmother, a mother-in-law, a sister, a Cosmetologist/Manager, having her ran her own business, and an amazing friend to many in her short life, even to include her furry friends, Kash and KJ.

Her most dedicated love was to her husband, Jack, of 23 years, to her daughter, Kelsie, and being NINA to her precious grandchildren, Tessa LaRue and Ryan Hamilton Platt. Her world was loving and being there for them every hour of every day if she could. There are so many things that bring us a smile from the Pleasures perfume that she wore, sunflowers that were her favorite flower, followed by her glamour, bling, and glitz. Kelly lit up every room she entered with her beautiful smile and loving heart. These and many more memories will be etched in our minds and hearts forever and she will not be forgotten.

Kelly is survived by her daughter, Kelsie Platt; her husband, Jack Blackmon; her mother, Connie Mullens; her sister, Jennifer Trett; and lastly, her precious grandchildren, Tessa LaRue, and Ryan Hamilton.

She is preceded her in death by her father, Robert L. Trett; her NANA, Maxine Patillo; her grandfathers, Dr. John Schlanser , William Scott Grieve and John Trett; her grandmother, LaPearl Richey; and lastly her son-in-law, Hamilton LaRue Platt.

A memorial visitation will be held to celebration Kelly’s life on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, Alabama, from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM.

Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 26209 Pollard Rd., Daphne, AL  36526.

  1. Rob Mihlbachler

Although I haven’t spoken with Kelly in many years, I am certain she never lost her indomitable spirit. (A generational gift from Connie and Maxine) Knowing she shared that spirit with a loving family and friends over many years is consoling.

Prayers for comfort and peace are offered most notably for Connie and Kelsie. The time spent was too short but you were both blessed as a mom and daughter with a true original in Kelly.

All my best to those who loved her.

    Rob Mihlbachler – Effingham, IL

So very sorry bless to all who loved her.

  4. Karen Probst

I haven’t seen Kelly since she was a young teenager but I’m sure she still had the same fun-loving personality she showed everyone then. She was always “Bling and Glitz Girl” and would perk up anyone’s day. Kelly had two very strong women to follow their example and loved them with all her heart. Connie, if there is ever you need anything please call me. Anything at all, even just to talk. Many prayers and much sympathy to all the family.

My very deepest sympathies to Connie and Kelsie.
Kelly and I met at a time when we both needed friendship for different reasons.
I was so lucky to have met her after she was a new Mom with the most gorgeous baby girl—Miss Kelsie.
We spent several years doing fun things together even after she moved to Indiana and then Alabama. She was creative and a talented stylist, and one of the sharpest, strongest ladies I have ever met. (Trained by the best…Nana & her Mother Connie) She would light up a room and turn heads — She was a beautiful lady! I admired many things about Kelly, especially her #1 priority of being a good Mom, her humorous quick-wit, intelligence, but I loved her spontaneity and feistiness the most! Dang—she could make you laugh!
My thoughts and prayers are with Connie, Kelsie, and her grandkids. I know in my heart Nana and Kelly are together and I wish her family peace as I know she is deeply missed already!

Connie, Kelsie and kids, We are still is shock over the loss of our sweet Kelly. Our lives have been intertwined in so many ways giving way to wonderful memories that trigger tears, laughter and smiles. Losing Kelly leaves a hole in our hearts time cannot heal.
There are so many memories we have shared growing up together as neighbors, sharing in life happiness and heartaches and watching each others kids grow and establish families of their own. We knew that she was there for us if we needed her and vice-versa. Words however kind, cannot mend your heartache, but we care deeply for each of you and share in your loss. May you find strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends. Praying for you in this difficult time. Please know we are here for whatever or whenever you needs us. Love you guys.
