We have lost a great leader in this community. She was a momma to all of her students and went above and beyond to help any kiddo that needed her. She especially loved the students who needed a little extra help in school whether it be socially or academically and did anything she could for them. She will be missed by so many.

  11. Taylor Godwin

She truly saved my life in high school and I’m sure hundreds of others could say the same thing. She was a light at Murphy and she was taken far too soon. She loved her students so much and made such an impact on us at Murphy. I love you Ms. settle.

    • Joanne Keith

No way to express what Kerri meant to me. She was my daughter’s first friend as they were only a few weeks apart when God brought them together Kerri was born in July and Kelly in September
Kelly Keith and I enjoyed many times with Kerri and mom. Robbie came later. Shirley and I met when we taught at Greystone Christian School all so long ago. Kerri got her devotion and excellence for teaching from her mom. She was an outstanding teacher and was so devoted to the students who were blessed to have been influenced by her devotion. Seems like Kerri was a chip off the old block. My Kelly and I are simply devasted that something like this could happen to one of the best of God’s children. Prayers are going out continually for you dear Shirley,Bobby, Robbie and all other family and friends who loved Kerri

It’s hard to believe you have been remove from our presence but never from our heart. You will miss at CLC

    Sent with love

    Caesar and Alfredetta

Mrs. Settle, as I sit and reflect on a few recent days when you and I were completing a project at CLC. I began to play a beautiful song from the past entitled “Love lifts us up where we belong.” You stated, “Moore, I have not heard that song in so long.” I smiled as I could hear you singing it from your heart.

I’m in a place now, only understanding the timing and essence God caused me to bless us with the meaning and message.

God has now removed you from your earthly tabernacle, and from the cares of this world. He promised us a new home, where there’s no tears, pain and suffering. I hear you clearly singing… Love, (Lord) Lifts Us Up Where We Belong. Where The Eagles Fly On A Mountain High.

Thank you for your spirit of Love towards ALL. As my counterpart in administration, we shared a very special relationship. We simply blessed and supported each other.

Now, I say to you… as you transition home. The God of Love, Peace and Mercy, will welcome you home, and give you eternal rest.

    Your Counterpart,

  15. Kelly Keith Brinson

I had the honor and privilege of growing up with Kerri! Whether it was wearing those plastic Halloween masks in the 80’s, having pool parties or taking a quick trip to Pensacola with our moms, she filled every occasion with fun and laughter. Her smile was contagious as was her energetic and positive spirit! Kerri had a heart for her students and did anything and everything she could to enrich their lives. She was a beautiful spirit and will be greatly missed! God has welcomed another angel into His kingdom!

  16. Lori Pearson

Years ago, Kerri was a student teacher in my classroom at Shaw and, eventually, took over that classroom when I moved to another school. I was happy it was her — I knew she’d take care of those students and teach them well. Over the course of my career in Mobile County, our paths crossed many times while she was at Murphy and CLC. It was so clear how much she cared for all the students. It’s so hard to believe such a bright light is now gone from this world.
I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to be at her funeral. I’ll keep her family and friends in my prayers. I pray God will bless them all with peace and strength. 🪷

  17. Mr. T. Erobu (Mr. E.).

We began working together in August 2017. In all these years, you reminded me of the beauty of human spirits.
A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever William Shakespeare wrote. You are beautiful inside and outside. You are like sunshine that radiates living rays to all. I saw you as a Corner Stone, Pathways, and life line for whoever you met. There will never be another one like you. In all things, you gave your best. You were always on the move,… thus, we called you Settle Down.

It hurts deeply that you are gone. Your legacy and memory will live on with your CLC family. You are missed by all.

The life you lived and the work you did will forever speak for you.
You will forever remain in our hearts. I am blessed to have met you in this Life Journey.
Rest in Peace in God’s House till we meet again.

  18. Misty
