In Loving Memory

March 29, 1938 – December 5, 2018

LaVerne Lee Flannigan, a retired Registered Nurse, who spent many years on the IV Team at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at Eastern Shore Rehabilitation & Health Center surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, after a long illness, at the age of 80.  Beloved mother of Joelle Flannigan Evans (Byron), Robert William Flannigan (Laine), the late John Patrick Flannigan and the late James Michael Flannigan.  Daughter of the late Cullen Lee and Dorothy Neese Lee and former wife of the late James Francis Flannigan.  Beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Grace, Isabel, and Caroline Evans, and James Finch “Finn” Flannigan. 

 Ms. Flannigan is a graduate of Robertsdale High School in Robertsdale, Alabama and Providence School of Nursing in Mobile, Alabama.  A native of Robertsdale, Alabama and long-time resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, LaVerne was passionate about Mardi Gras, tennis, fishing and crabbing on the Alabama coast, and spending time with her grandchildren.

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, Louisiana, on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.  Visitation with the family shall begin at 9:30 a.m. and the interment service will follow at Greenwood Mausoleum, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.

    The 1st day I met you I knew you were some one special. I’m so glad you came into my life the moment we shared are memories i will never forget the laughter and stories and most of all the invoice you gave me on how to raise my kids with me been a single mother came in hand especially with me seen what great job you did with you’re too.     I’ll miss you. I’ll miss your feisty nature and your sense of humor. Whenever I saw you, you made me belly laugh. I admired your loyalty to your family. Through thick and thin you were ever dedicated to your children. Give Mikie and Pat a big hug for us all.
