I am so saddened by this news. He was larger than life for so many little ones. After Caroline’s first day, she said the children were stupid but Mr Leon was cool and was her new best friend. What a legacy he leaves behind. He was a institution in himself. The world just got a little dimmer without his presence.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  36. Priscilla Comer

I’m sorry to learn of Leon’s passing ! He was such a completely willing support to his and Carol’s school,& his 2 churches. His deep and steady faith was very obvious. He could be dubbed as Father to all of Baldwin County’s families doing anything to be all he could be with the children for the children, caring deeply for the children! Jason said He was the best cook ever and made the kids feel great about themselves and laughed a lot . He would talk to the kids a mile a minute while he cooked for them and they loved it. If they had troubles when they entered Leon would melt those right away. He was completely faithful and devoted to Mrs. Carols wishes and Ideas concerning extra special projects that were looked forward to year after year like the famous Christmas train and the hundreds of Caladiums planted out front to look beautiful. He was always available advancing good works in his school and churches. He has been noticeably missing for a while, but not forgotten at all! No body will forget Leon and his tight family ! I remember him fondly, for his humor, kidding, and his sincerity. He leaves behind many memories that people can use to make their life good and better. The list is long of things he has participated in and supported around town and in his churches . Youth missions is one. Leon was a caring, willing giant with a heart as big as he was! I think as Leon entered heaven that God said ,”Well done!”
My Deepest Sympathy to Carol, Tatum and Hayden
