Lewis Franklin Brown, Jr., 78, a native of Tuscaloosa, AL and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home.
Lewis attended Tuscaloosa County High School and College. He was an ordained deacon and member of Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church. He served in the US Army for 7 ½ years as a Staff Sergeant E-6 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Lewis retired from B.F. Goodrich-Michelin after 30 years in Tuscaloosa. He loved Bible study, traveling, fishing, and gardening.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis F. Brown, Sr. and Frances Brown, and sister, Paula Brown Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 54 ½ years, Mae Frances “Fran” Pike Brown; one son, Jason Lewis Brown (Becky) of Caledonia, MS; grandchildren, Jason “Keith” Brown (Sarah) and Rachel Brown Caldwell (Allen); one great-granddaughter, Landry Caldwell; siblings, Janice Brown Cook of California, Dorothy Brown Hawthorne of Cottondale, AL, Sharon Brown Wills of Georgia, and Earnest Laverne Brown of Cottondale, AL; along with other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation before the service beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
