Linda grew up in Sylvan Springs, AL, and attended elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse with her brothers, Larry and Ronnie, before finishing school at Mulga High. She was the beloved daughter of Thelma and Theodore, and unabashedly her father’s favorite. Linda was fiercely independent, loved to travel, and was a caretaker at heart. She selflessly cared for her mother, mother-in-law, and handicapped brother until their passing.
Linda’s early life presented many struggles, including the loss of her father to black lung disease. She also lost her husband, Doug Lofton, in an accident in her twenties, and became a single mother to her only child, Tim. She later remarried and became a grandmother and great-grandmother. Through all of life’s challenges, Linda remained optimistic and hardworking, never turning down an opportunity to contribute. She held various jobs, working as a bartender, postal worker, Target cashier, and even an employee at a recycle center. Her favorite role, however, was at the animal shelter, reflecting her deep love for animals. She even had a semi-adopted cat named Taco with a neighbor.
In her spare time, Linda enjoyed reading, organic gardening, watching football, and spending time with her family and friends. Later in life, she found great happiness and an extended family with Joe.
Linda is survived by her son, Tim Lofton; granddaughter, Daishia Dalton; two great grandsons; nieces, Kim (Robert) Spaulding and Nikki Hogan; special friends, Linda Joullian and Linda Golson; as well as caring neighbors, Gayle, Donald, Angela, Teisha and Nicki.

We were cousins, but didn’t get to know her until we were all retired and we got to stay in the Gulf coast quite a bit. And we got together and we became close friends right away. It was like we had known each other forever she was a lovely lady and welcomed us graciously.
She had a good heart. Had good friends and a special friend Joe.
They were a good match. We visited and caught up on our younger selves and had good times and bad but we all survived we laughed and eat and just our time together. Then Joe passed and it was a sad time for her. Now Jesus carried her to heaven to be with all her family and friends and be with Jesus forever. We will all see her again someday if we believed in Jesus as our savior.
I’m so heartbroken about Linda’s passing 💔. We have been friends for 40 years. She was a great friend and loved my kids like her own and she loved Nova which is my sons Rottweiler. Life want be the same without her. Love ❤️ you ❤️ my best friend 🧡

Linda was my mother, Carolyn’s, best friend. They lived next door to each other growing up, played together, and remained best friends until my mom’s passing in September 2022. Rest in peace, sweet lady.
