Louise Holston Thomson, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the age of 92.
A native of Millry, Alabama, and a longtime resident of Daphne, Alabama, Louise leaves behind a legacy of deep faith, community service, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert Harris Thomson Jr.; her son, Kevin Scott Thomson; and her parents, Ira H. and Catherine Bass Holston.
She is survived by her children, Robert “Rob” Thomson III (Barbara) and Catherine Thomas; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Thomson; her brother, James Samuel “Sam” Holston (Bonnie); and her three grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Thomson IV (Elizabeth), Cole Thomas, and Emma Thomas. She also leaves behind a special caregiver, Mrs. Lucy McKinnis, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Louise was the Valedictorian of the Millry High School Class of 1952. She went on to a dedicated career with Merchants/First Alabama/Regions Bank, from which she eventually retired.
Louise’s faith was the cornerstone of her life; she was a vibrant and active member of Ashland Place United Methodist Church for over 70 years and cherished her church family. Her commitment to her community was equally strong, as she served on various boards and was a member of several Mystic Organizations. She was charter member of the American Society of Women Accountants, National Association of Bank Women, and the Mobile Quota Club. She was also active in the Mobile Symphony and the American Cancer Society.
However, her greatest passion was her family and her wide circle of “treasured friends.” Whether it was her weekly card group, Tailgating Friends, or gatherings with her special neighbors, Louise cherished every connection.
She was a constant, cheering presence at her grandchildren’s events and never turned down an invitation to spend time with those she loved.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ashland Place United Methodist Church, 15 Wisteria Ave, Mobile, AL 36607. A time of visitation will immediately follow the service.

Everything my family is today, and everything we will be for generations to come, was made possible by my grandmother. She was steadfast, and brave in everything she did, both for her family and in her walk with the Lord. She lived with deep integrity and quiet honor, doing what was right even when it was hard and never in need of recognition. Truly a beacon of resilience and possibility. I am endlessly proud to be hers.
She was my best friend and absolutely the coolest grandmother a girl could ever hope to have. To me, she was home. She loved her family fiercely and was always the glue that held us together. When things were hard, she was steady. When things were good, she celebrated harder than anyone.
The glass ceilings she shattered paved the way for generations of women, and my heart swells with pride when I think of just how gritty and determined she was. I am full of gratitude that I got to be so closely shaped by her. She loved deeply and valued her friends, her women’s group, her church, and her relatives with her whole heart. Her life was built on connection, loyalty, and showing up for people, and she did that so beautifully.
She is woven into me. She taught me how to be strong without being hard. I carry her with me every day, in the choices I make, the way I love my family, the way I stand firm when things are difficult, and the way I lean on faith when I don’t have all the answers. I would choose her to be my granny in every lifetime and I am forever grateful I got to love her, learn from her, and be loved by her.
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived at 92 years young, she left this world the same way she lived in it — with grace, dignity, strength, and unwavering love.
Mom was successful in every way that truly matters: devoted to her family, generous in spirit, steadfast in faith, and determined in all she set her mind to accomplish.
She was sweetness wrapped in strength — a woman whose gentle voice carried wisdom, whose warm smile made everyone feel at home, and whose determination quietly moved many mountains. Her life was marked by resilience, perseverance, and a deep love for her family and community. She taught us the value of hard work, kindness, hospitality, and above all, Gods love.
She carried herself with elegance, treated others with respect, and faced life’s challenges with courage and faith. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming, and her heart always full.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we celebrate the extraordinary 92 years she shared with us. Her legacy lives on in us as well as her grandchildren, and countless lives she touched.
She was, and always will be, our guiding light — a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and the truest example of a southern lady.
