Tribute

Marcus Crabtree was born November 30, 1980.  He was married to Julia Bailey, he was beloved by his parents, Leanna and Robert Crabtree and his siblings, Renee Patton, Sandra Ray, and Robert Crabtree Jr.

Marcus was very proud and took pride in serving 14 years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 2013. He was extremely proud to have gone back to school in his 30’s and graduated from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a degree in Business Management and with a minor in marketing in May of 2014.

Marcus was known for his humor and often was known to be the life of the party. He was charismatic, loving, and had good a listening ear. He loved to banter about football. Marcus was a diehard Alabama fan and loved to yell out “Roll Tide” every weekend. He was also a devout New Orleans Saints fan “Who Dat!”  Football was one of the closest ways for Marcus and Julia’s to bond. They loved to talk and debate about whose football team was better and were proud to be a house divided with love.

Julia’s nickname for him was monkey because he was goofy and always quick with a smile. While they didn’t have children, they had 2 dogs they treated as their children, and any child he came across loved him for his easy-going demeanor and fun loving personality, especially his niece Natalie, whom he bonded with and made a huge impact from the age of 2. Natalie loved to call him “Martus”.

Marcus secretly loved reality TV and would watch it from the corner of his eye to only chime in randomly. He had strong opinions about the real housewives and Vanderpump rules. Anyone who knew Marcus knows he loved to eat. He loved any kind of pasta, his mom’s meatloaf, and sweet and sour meatballs. He also loved his mother-in-law’s Salisbury steak.

Marcus loved his wife, family, and extended family. He left us way too soon. It happened quickly and was very unexpected, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

Marcus was preceded in death by his father, Robert, sister, Pam, his uncle, John Falcon and beloved Dachshund dog, Jack.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Julia Bailey; his mother, Leanna Crabtree; his aunt, Lori Falcon; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At this time of loss, we know that Marcus would want nothing more than for everyone to honor his memory by loving each other as family and friends and supporting each other in this grief and being kind to one another. He will be loved and missed more than words can describe.  Rest in Peace Marcus Crabtree!

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 2PM at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, AL. There will be a time of visitation following the service.

Marcus was an awesome nephew. He was always there for me when his Uncle Johnny passed away and I have never forgotten.
I will miss him for now, but relish in the knowledge that I will see him again someday soon. RIP Marcus. I love you with all of my heart! ❤️

God blessed me with my Son Marcus, when I reached 37 yrs of age, after caring for his youngest half sister, Sandra Ray & making deep & lasting relationships with his other two half sisters, Renee Paton & Pamela Brunson & his half brother, Robert Crabtree, Jr.
My heart is broken at his sudden death & I can only feel consolation by knowing he was a Christian at heart & is in Jesus arms & His Heavenly mansion. Marcus & his Dad, Robert, Sr. are with each other again & waiting for me to join them when the Lord calls me home, too!
Rest In Peace & Happiness my Son. You’re where the rest of us want to be in our time & know that your mother loves you with all of her heart. 🙏🏻❤️
