February 13, 1970 – December 21, 2014
Michael Shannon Simmons, 44, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Michael was an avid biker and he loved the Lord. He ministered to the homeless and he enjoyed praise and worship. His life was all about Jesus. He was active in Rev Up 4 Hope Homeless Ministries, Underground Mobile, a teen music ministry, he held prayer groups in his home weekly, and he was always surrounded by friends who loved him. He worked at University of South Alabama medical center where he was a member of the local 505 Electrical Union.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Rawls Simmons; his sons, Michael (Tia) Mclain, Justin (Candice) Walker; daughters, Shannon Simmons, Allison “Peanut” Simmons, Brittnie (Issac) Kapua; his mother, Martha Voncile Peters and step father, Nicholas Peters Jr.; brothers, Thomas Jason “Scooter” (Tabitha) Simmons, Robert Bradley (Deborah) Simmons, Nicholas (Donna) Peters III; sisters, D. Kristine Borchardt, Monica Gayle (Darryl) Knight; his five grandchildren, Luke Gavin Mclain, Brantley Odom, Tristan Kapua, Darrius Kapua, and Alexis Walker.

You are one of the three of my brothers and I will miss you more than any words can describe…. I’m so glad we have our own memories as brother and sister for our whole lifetime and you will forever be in my heart and I’m glad I got to visit you before you went back home to Jesus! Thank You Jesus for giving my brother a new body and taking all of his pain away… please give Moma a big Ol hug and tell her I love and miss her dearly…. Now you go on and enjoy that beautiful place you are in until we meet again!! All my love
