Tribute

Mimford Earl Thompson, a native of Florida and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the age of 87.

Earl was a member of the Masonic Fraternity for 59 years.  He received his Electrical Engineering degree from North Carolina State University. He was employed by Brown & Root, Farnell & Associates and Thompson Engineering.  Earl loved watching the Alabama Crimson Tide play football! Roll Tide!

Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Vester Thompson; his brothers, Ed, Howard, Bill, Herman, Hollis and Bobby; his sisters, Jo, Hazel and Nell; his son, Chuck Thompson; granddaughter, April Joi Quinnley; and grandson, Brian Quinnley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Ann Thompson; his children, Tammy Crawford, Pam (Mike) McCreary, Michelle (Phillip) Fountain, Sherry (James) Tate of Madison, GA; his grandchildren, Brandon Quinnley, Jeremy McCreary, Kyle Thomson, Chris Quinnley, Jamie Thompson, Cheryl McCreary, Joi Brett-Hubbard, Cole Eckles, John Carey Brett and Raye Tate; eleven great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Suzie; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Burial will take place at the Alabama Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Hwy. 225 in Spanish Fort, AL, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11AM.

    A Man that befriended me at S.F.Lodge #916, he always had the answer and cared deeply about his community, military and Masonic dealings. He always talked about the Service Dog program through the E.S. And found it amazing of mine, Brother Earl until we meet again 🇺🇸

    To Barbara and children,Earl was my friend and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. My health is not good so I will not be able to make his funeral. Just know I am praying for you all.
