In Loving Memory of Murphy J. Stout
A Tribute to a Life Filled with Light, Love, and Connection
A Life Remembered
Murphy Jeremy Stout, age 26, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, March 1, 2026. The light he brought into the world will never fade, despite how short it blazed through our skies.
The Light He Shared
Murphy had a smile that lit up every room, always melting his mother’s heart. His father would say his energy was infectious, making every stranger feel welcome and adored. Murphy could talk and connect with anyone he met, whether in a grocery store, an elevator, a restaurant, a class, a gym, or a park. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he just met, Murphy would make you feel seen, included, and important. His warmth was natural and his kindness effortless. His presence was truly a gift to this world.
Academic and Professional Achievements
Murphy was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama in 2021, completing two degrees in the top 25% of his class. He majored in Communication and Information Sciences and was devoted to the Crimson Tide. “Roll Tide” was more than a phrase; it was his motto, a reflection of his strength, pride, and solidarity with the Alabama community. He began his career as an intern at White Stone Marketing and continued as a valued team member. Communication came naturally to him, and he excelled at blending his degrees, finding great reward in helping his clients’ businesses grow. He genuinely loved his work and spoke often with admiration for his coworkers and clients. Few things made him happier than receiving a shout out for a job well done. He took pride in his work and was dedicated to doing the right thing and achieving the best possible results.
Love and Cherished Memories
Murphy loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. He cherished his partner, Lauren, and their two cats, treasuring the memories they created while traveling. Travel was one of his greatest joys. Annual family beach trips, holiday gatherings, mountain getaways, and impromptu weekends were always valued. He anticipated yearly traditions and looked forward to them with excitement.
A Gift for Words and Connection
Murphy had a remarkable way with words; his impromptu toasts were heartfelt and unforgettable. He was consistently thoughtful, funny, and full of love, drawing everyone in and making each person feel seen and valued. People listened when Murphy spoke because he was sincere and truthful, touching others with his honesty. More importantly, he was present, always making eye contact and listening intently. He was incredibly curious and had an insatiable desire to learn, educating himself on any topic that came his way because he wanted to know and share the good life.
Family and Loved Ones
Murphy was loved and adored immensely by his mother, Sally; his father, Jeremy; his stepmother, Betsey; and his brother Patrick. The bond he shared with Patrick was extraordinary, as they shared a birthday just three years apart, a connection that was uniquely special. He is also survived by his beloved partner, Lauren; his cherished Grandmother Mimi; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and true-blue friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
In Remembrance
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, for whom he was proudly named, and by his beloved Nina and Papa, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
Legacy of Love and Connection
Murphy filled 26 years with connection, laughter, loyalty, and love. He leaves behind a family and community that became brighter because of him. His tribe will carry his spirit forward in every shared toast, every beach sunset, every Roll Tide and every moment we choose to show up for one another the way he always did.
Murphy’s boundless light, love, and energy left an indelible mark on us all. He will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.

Dear Jeremy and Betsey, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. You will find strength in all the great memories you shared with Murphy. I hope you know how sorry I was to hear of his passing.
I worked with Murph and will never forget the way he started every call we had. The moment he answered it was always, “FRENCHIE!!!” he said with enthusiasm. He was the most wonderfully polite and positive Southerner with such a great personality. He had an insatiable desire to learn more and was always first to offer to help the team. He was raised right! His love of sports, of Bama, his kitties and family showed what mattered most to him. He was a beautiful soul I will never forget, and I am so grateful to have known him.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I remember taking this photo during one of our work retreats. Everyone was laughing and having such a great time, and Murphy was right at the center of most of those laughs. He kept talking about how beautiful the view of Lake Tahoe was, so I told him we had to take a picture so he could remember it. Of course, he immediately struck a pose.
That moment feels like Murphy in a nutshell—full of life, making people laugh, and appreciating the little things. His spirit will truly be missed. I know I speak for everyone at White Stone when I say he wasn’t just an amazing coworker, but a genuine friend to all of us.
I am so incredibly sorry for you loss. Lots of love, thoughts and prayers coming your way.
My Thoughts and Prayers are with you Jeremy, Sally and Family.

There are no words that adequately express the deeply held bond Murphy and I shared. While we had a professional working relationship–it was much more than that. Murphy the better part of year as my right hand man. He was able to anticipate my needs as well as the needs of our company sometimes better than I was. Murphy was the type of guy that once he was in your corner, you had a friend for life and by the end of our time working together that is exactly what he was. He never complained, he never doubted, and one thing I distinctly remember teaching him was that there was always a more efficient way of completing a task. And that was a lesson that I think he took to heart. He committed to his friends and family and and exhibited a fidelity to those relationships that is uncommon to man in common hours. And for as much as I taught and mentored him, there were things that he taught me. Murphy reminded me that getting older doesn’t mean you have to stop having fun, he showed me that getting older meant you got to have more fun. He lived in such a way that kindness was his default, charity was his compass, and love was his superpower. Losing Murphy means that I have to take up his mantle–to show more kindness, compassion, patience and above all–love. In fact, it’s a lesson we can all learn. We can all be more like Murphy. Murphy embodied our organization’s mantra–that we can do hard things. He wasn’t just exceptional and he wasn’t just average–he was any but ordinary. He will be missed terribly. But Murphy would not want us to cry over this loss. He’d want us to keep living and to do so well. Murphy–it was a privilege to get to know you. May we meet again.
Having worked with Murphy over the last few years, I was privileged to call him a friend. His natural enthusiasm, caring nature and our mutual interests made our conversations the highlight of many days and late nights. I am thankful to have known Murphy and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I just learned of this today, Sally.
I know that ache of losing a son. You are on my heart and in my prayers. I am so sad for all of those who knew and loved Murphy. Remember him🙏🏼❤️
Murphy was such a good person—full of life, always so fun to be around. We had so much in common, especially our love for Alabama football.Words can’t fully capture the monumental impact he had on my life. I don’t feel obligated, but I want to share what kind of person he was.
I worked with Murphy at a hotel in Tuscaloosa while he attended the University of Alabama. I needed a better job to provide stability for my daughter. One day, he asked to see my resume, and I let him. He scanned it and said, “Let’s change this and take out some of this.” Then he broke it down for me in detail—what to keep, what to cut, how to make it stronger.
The very next day, the company I’d applied to a few times over the years called me, and I started working there. All because he took the time to help me. He single-handedly—directly and indirectly—changed the trajectory of my life in the most positive way possible.
I think back and reflect: If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have the job I’ve been at for the last 5 years. I wouldn’t be living alone (with my daughter when I have her) in a 3-bedroom, 2-bath house for the last 3 years. That one act of kindness changed my entire life for the better. Anytime he told me how proud and happy he was of me, I would always credit him and tell him If he hadn’t helped me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. His positivity, generosity, and the way he lifted everyone around him left an indelible mark. I’ll carry his influence with me always.
Roll Tide forever, and RIP Murphy!! You will be truly missed.
