Eight Mile, AL

Murphy Nichols “Nick” Bryant, 72 of Eight Mile entered into rest at home. The immediate family will have a memorial service at a later date. Nick was a Veteran of the US Navy and received the National Defense Medal. He served on the USS Stribling during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from International Paper, Moss Point, MS Mill and worked in Engineering Services. For many years he played the piano and brought joy to the residents of Autumn Breeze Health Care Center in Eight Mile, AL where his grandmother was a resident.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, James Murphy and Cornelia Inez “Nica” Bryant; one sister, Connie Rebecca “Becky” Bryant Williams.

He is survived by two nieces, Rebecca Williams (Allen) Nelson of Fairhope, AL and Ashley Bryant Williams (Mark) Turbeville of Whitehouse Fork, AL, several great nieces, cousins, friends and the two family cats, Baby Girl and Blue Boy.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your charity of choice or your local non-kill animal shelter. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Kindred (formerly Gentiva) Hospice, especially Jessie Odom, Ashley Sims and Lisa Dixon in his final days. In addition, the family would not have been able to make it through the last year without the help of Ms. Ora Tinker. Tinker was a blessing to the family and for that they are very grateful. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home in Daphne, AL.
