Nancy Haas Cowles Herndon, 71, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. She was born November 30, 1941 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the daughter of George Madison and Marianne Haas. She attended Murphy High School where she was a member of Beta Sigma Chi. She attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She worked at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Nancy loved working on any kind of craft and often entered her work in shows. She was an avid reader. She recently moved to Fairhope to be close to her family.

Nancy was pre-deceased by her parents, George and Marianne Haas and her son Russell Haas Cowles.

Survivors include her son David Conde Cowles (Delaine) of Fairhope and two grandchildren, Caroline and Trenton; three sisters, Beatrice Haas Walton, Spanish Fort, Sara Haas, Phoenix, AZ, and Ellen Haas Cooper of Columbia, SC ; nieces and nephews, Marianne Terry, Mobile, Tripp Walton, Montgomery, Beth Cooper Parker, Tega Cay, SC, Stephanie Cooper, Gilbert, SC and her sister in law, Dr. Milly Cowles, Fairhope.
