Nicholas D. Marchionne, Jr.

February 15, 1946 - November 29, 2023


Nicholas Dominick Marchionne, Jr., 77, formerly of Hudson, New York, passed away on November 29, 2023, in his home in Spanish Fort, Alabama, after a valiant battle with severely progressive health issues.

“Nick” was born on February 15, 1946, in his beloved hometown, Hudson, New York.  He is preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Dominick Marchionne, Sr., his mother, Juliette Rossi Marchionne, and sister, Carina “Renee” Marchionne Blake.

Nick was a standout athlete and scholar. He excelled in basketball and football in his junior high and high school years. Upon completion of high school, he received a full athletic scholarship to play football at Syracuse University. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Nick, knew there were few things he loved more than watching sports and his beloved alma mater, Syracuse University. Nick graduated from Syracuse University in June of 1968. He went on to work as the Executive Director of Hudson’s Department of Youth in Hudson, New York. Nick continued his career as the Director of Columbia County Probation Department. He had a long career and eventually retired from the New York State Division of Parole.

A friend to all, a force to be reckoned with, never met a stranger, karaoke legend, and loving soul, are a few ways Nick has been described throughout his life. He was known for his extroverted personality, love for singing and storytelling, and always up for a joke and a laugh. There are few things that he loved more than watching sports, singing, laughing, writing poems, telling stories, and making people laugh. For those who had the pleasure to know him throughout his life, they know he was one-of-a-kind and a truly special man.

Nick is survived by his wife, Shelia S. Marchionne; two sons, Ted Marchionne, and Darryl Marchionne; granddaughter, Sarah Marchionne (Ted); aunt, Ann (Marchionne) Morrison; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2024, in Hudson, New York. Details of this celebration of his life to come at a later date.

    Thanks for the great tribute to Nick, a life long friend. From Kindergarten through high school graduation and beyond. Nick hosted an annual Italian Fest for several years which everyone looked forward to attending. Nick will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace “Bear”.
