Patricia W. Wood (Pat), passed away peacefully at The Retreat at Saad Hospice in Mobile, AL on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the age of 79.
Pat was born to the late George W. White and Alma Estelle Airey in Mobile, Alabama. After a successful career in banking, Pat answered the call to serve the Lord full time. In 1991, Freedom Ministries was established initially with nine women that God brought together under the PEF umbrella led by Pat Wood. After completing Prison Fellowship training while meeting and praying together with her group, she began ministering in county jails, diversion centers, and women’s prisons ultimately branching out to include Bill Glass ‘Weekend of Champions’ Outreaches in the Southeast. Pat ministered with her very life – reaching out with the love of Christ to all. She lived her testimony daily until the Lord called her home.
Pat was blessed with a large and loving family and is survived by her three loving daughters, Tracy (Rob) Jones, Monica (Gregory) Tatroe, and Julie (Kevin) Richardson. Pat is also survived by her brother, George (Ann) White Jr.; two sisters, Yvonne (James) Johnson and Dolores (Doug) Rhodes; as well six grandchildren, Noah and Caleb Jones, Blythe and Trip Tatroe, Stephen (Kelsey) Street, and Catherine Street; one great-grandchild; Theodore Scott Moles; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she shared the love of Christ with.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church, 8717 Fairhope Avenue in Fairhope, Alabama. There will be a reception immediately following the Celebration of Life in the fellowship hall.
