Paul K. Reid, Jr., a dedicated public servant, proud veteran, beloved Dad and PopPop, passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 82.

A man of deep technical skill and a heart for service, Paul spent his life protecting and connecting others. Chief Master Sergeant Reid honorably served his country as a U.S. Air Force Veteran, enlisting in 1963 and serving in Ground Electronics Installation Agency (GEEIA) squadrons, communications, and as a Security Police Officer. He continued his commitment to national security as the Chief of Emergency Operations for FEMA, where he directed Continuity of Government plans during the Cold War and multiple Presidential administrations. His passion for communication and community extended into his personal life through his active involvement in Civil Air Patrol and the HAM radio community, where he was known by his call sign – N4EKW.

After calling Winchester, Virginia home for 21 years, he retired to pursue the quieter joys of life. He spent many happy days fishing on the lake in Pell City, Alabama, before eventually settling near the coast in Cantonment, Florida, and Spanish Fort, Alabama.

He shared 49 years of marriage with his cherished wife, Jeannie, who preceded him in 2024. He was also preceded by his parents, Paul K. Reid and Lucille Moreland; his sister, Betty Mausolf; and three sons, Kenny, and twins Timothy Scott and Kevin Allen.

His legacy lives on through his son, Chris, and daughter-in-law, Katie, of Dumfries, VA. He was the immensely proud PopPop to Eric, Ally, and Izzy, who will miss his stories and constant encouragement.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, Alabama, at 12PM.  There will be a time of visitation with family and friends before the service, beginning at 11AM.

Following his wishes, interment will take place at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola, where he will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Jeannie.
