November 16, 1921 – July 24, 2012 In Loving Memory.
Fairhope, AL
Paula Eloise Mitchell McMurray went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 24, 2012, at her home in Fairhope, surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adore her. Her husband of over 60 yrs, William A McMurray, Jr. preceded her in death, as well as her oldest child Dotti Long, son-in-law Calvin Long, and son-in-law Jeff Combs.
Paula was an incredible woman with many talents and a heart for all people. She loved God and His Word, and devoted her life to Him by showing His unconditional love and sharing the gospel with her family and everyone she came in contact with. She and her husband had a Thursday night Bible Study in their home for 20 years, with Pastor E.C. Moore as teacher, where many family members and friends came to know the Lord, and deepen their knowledge of His Word. The Bible Study ended when she had a severe stroke, but her testimony did not. Scriptures were the first words to come back, and she continued to share the joy of the Lord with her therapists. She loved music, played the piano, wrote poetry, was a magnificent cook and homemaker. She was the happiest when her home was full of people; for Bible Study, a great meal or just talking. Her kind eyes, sweet smile and infectious laugh will be so missed by all who love her!
Paula was the third of six children and is survived by siblings Grace Hanson of Pensacola, FL., Blake Vines of Bessemer, AL., and Fred Mitchell (Eloise), of Foley, AL. Her surviving children are Paula Malone (Earle) of Silverhill, AL, Jane McMillan (Tom)of Brewton, AL, Sue Combs of Fairhope, Bill McMurray (Dawn) of Silverhill, AL and Jon McMurray (Pam)of Montrose, AL. She adored her 22 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren who loved their “Nanny”.
