Peter Andrew Havas Sr., age 72, of Daphne, AL, passed away July 19, 2019.
Peter was born to John and Barbara Havas in Morristown, New Jersey, one of five siblings. Upon graduation he served as a Navy corpsman with the Marines in Guam. On October 6, 1979 he married Kim Delayne Enfinger, and they raised two daughters and a son. After leaving active duty he remained in civil service until his retirement.
Peter was an avid fan of Alabama football, betting on fast dogs and horses, and taking advantage of his God-given lucky streak at the card table. In retirement he and Kim split their time between Alabama and their summer home in Franklin, North Carolina. They also travelled to over a dozen countries where he was able to indulge his great passions of sitting in interesting places, eating good things, and never passing up an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen about them. His stories, humor and advice will be missed by his loved ones.
Peter is survived by his wife Kim, daughters, Kate and Bethany; son, Peter Jr. and his wife Linda; and two granddaughters. He will be remembered in a private family service at the Beau Rivage Casino and a memorial marker will be placed at Whitmire Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alabama Greyhound Rescue and Adoption Center at http://www.ohmygreyhounds.com or New Vocations Racehorse Adoption at http://www.horseadoption.com.
You had a good run doc, and it’s time to fold.
