In Loving Memory
October 27, 1954 – December 14, 2018
Peter was preceded in death by his father, William S. Darr.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Breuer Darr, his husband and partner of 39 years, Richard Olsen; sisters, Maureen Darr (Oliver Stentz), Linda Stymeist, and Mimi (Blair) Clark; nephews and nieces, Sefton (Aimee) Spangenberg and Ashley Spangenberg, Kyle Stymeist and Kelly Stymeist; and great nephew, Phillip Spangenberg and great niece, Marie Spangenberg. He loved and will be missed by his dogs, Honey and BoBeaux.
Peter loved Mobile, its history, and in particular, Mardi Gras. He was a former member and King of the Order of Osiris and a Charter Member and former King of the Krewe of Phoenix. Peter was a 1973 graduate of McGill Institute. He worked in the floral industry and for Gayfers for a number of years before opening the gift shop AREAS in downtown Mobile. Peter will be remembered for his unbounded creative energy, his joy of food and friends, and his mischievous nature.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a future date. The family suggests memorials be made to Animal Rescue Foundation, www.animalrescuemobile.org, or a charity of your choice.

Dear (truly dear) Mrs. Darr, Maureen, Linda, Mimi & Richard,
I am so sad to hear of Peter’s passing. I did, however; love reading about his love & participation in all things Mardi Gras! My first (& only) experience was with y’all after we followed you to Mobile from Atlanta. So many wonderful memories. My daughter, Rachel, just moved to Spanish Fort & my first outing after unpacking was to attempt to retrace some old “paths”. Of course, the first thing I did was try & Google each of you to see if any of the Darr clan
remained in Mobile. You are each in my prayers & much love is sent your way. I hope you are all happy & healthy. Please feel free to contact me, I would love to reconnect. I regret & apologize for not doing it sooner. You were never forgotten.
