Phillip Gene Hudson, a carpenter and resident of Wilmer, AL, died suddenly at home from a massive stroke on April 19, 2020 at the age of 57.
Phillip is survived by three of his brothers, William Garner Hudson, Alfred Lucius Hudson, and Carl Alan Hudson; three sisters, Melinda Hope Harbison (Ken), Carole Anne Hensell (Robin), and Martha Lynn Jumper. He is predeceased by his brother, Samuel Leigh Hudson; his mother, Julia Anne Hudson; and his father, William Cleo Hudson. He leaves behind thirteen nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Phillip was born in Mobile, AL on May 30, 1962 to Julia and Cleo Hudson. He attended C.F. Vigor High School and spent his adulthood learning and practicing a skilled trade, woodwork. He was a skilled and imaginative carpenter, able to construct and repair structures on a dime without needing any guidance. His skill and work ethic gained him a diverse set of employment opportunities—qualities that earned him much respect from his peers.
He had a heart of gold and a calm presence that put all around him at ease. His generous spirit was clear at the start, willing to give anyone who needed it his last cent. Phillip was a devoted football fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The only greater love he had was for the Lord, and he is now finally at home with Him—no more pain. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
No funeral service will be held due to COVID-19 restrictions, but a memorial service will be planned once all is clear. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at 101 Sandalwood Court, Daphne, AL 36526.
