Remelle Ledbetter Owen, a native of Walker County, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 93.

Remelle, also affectionately known as “Nanny”, spent her career in the nursing field for approximately 25 years.  She had a passion for caregiving and enjoyed hearing about her patients’ life stories.  She loved spending time with her family. We will miss Nanny dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her.  We have the blessed reassurance that she is now spending her eternal life with our Lord and Savior. We will always feel her presence in our hearts.

Remelle is preceded in death by her parents, Elmonie Ledbetter & Allie Orick Ledbetter; one daughter, Cynthia Kay Kimmel; her brothers, Clyde Ledbetter, Current Ledbetter, Vernon Ledbetter, Mack Ledbetter, Laurice Ledbetter, and James Ledbetter; her sister, Myrtle Boyd; nephews, Billie Mack Ledbetter and Charles Ledbetter; niece, Ramona Burson; and great nephew, Gary Burson.

She is survived by her children, Linda Brooks and John (Janet) Kimmel; eight grandchildren, Diego Alarcon, Missy Whitehurst, Amy Heiter, Nikki Byron, Shannon Otto, Jill Willis, Christa Reynoso and Tyler Kimmel; fifteen great-grandchildren, Diego Moraes, Marisa Moraes, Luke Heiter, Kara LaMere, Logan Heiter, Geno Byron, Angelina Alarcon, Brianna Byron, Rayne Byron, Aidan Otto, Allie Otto, Andreas Reynoso, Ronan Reynoso, Cooper Willis and Caroline Willis; two nieces, Faye McGowin and RoseAnne Smith; one nephew, Jerry Boyd; along with other family members and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Serenity Memorial Gardens, 8691 Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, AL, at 10AM.

Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
