Richard “Ricky” Sims, Sr., of Brewton, AL, went to join Little Ricky with Jesus on Saturday, September 30, 2017. His journey began 58 years ago where he was born in Orlando, FL. Ricky loved fishing, camping, outdoors, and working on heavy machinery. He has spent the last several years building up his house in the country and helping with his grandchildren. Ricky always loved doing things for others and helping where he could. He was a good man, father, grandfather, and man of God. After getting married, he had the pleasure of raising five children, Jim, Ben, Tabitha, Little Ricky, and Tyler.

He is preceded in death by his son, Richard “Little Ricky” Sims, Jr.; mother, Opal Neline Sims; father, Edward Earl Sims; brothers, John Wood, Sr. and Larry Wood; great nephew, Jordan Wood.

Ricky is survived by his children, James “Jim” (Harmony) Bodtke, Benjamin “Ben” (Dawn) Bodtke, Tabitha Sims and Tyler (Cassey) Wood; one step-daughter, Ashley Bischoff; one daughter-in-law, Ashley Sims Jackson; thirteen grandchildren, Cameron Rust, Emma Neyhart, Jamisyn Bodtke, Layla Bodtke, Harleigh Bodtke, Kaydence Bodtke, Cameron Sims, Braden Pittman, Serenity Pittman, MaKayla Kast, Jaydon Wood, Madison Wood and Taelynn Nelson; siblings, Sharon (Richard) Gilliland, Betty (Tommy) Smith and Donald Wood; nieces, Patricia Calhoun, Tonya (Chris) McNew; nephew, John Billy Wood; great nephew, Blake McNew; great nieces, Britta Wood, Lexia McNew, Lynn (Tony) Wilson and many other relatives and friends.

    To the family of Richard Sims, I am sorry for your loss, May your comfort come from the good memories of your love one. The memory, one of the many wonderful free gifts from our Creator. He gives out of his love the free gifts, such as sight with color, ears that detects many sound, and a mind that stores the memories of things of the present and pass.
