Richard Tyler Montee was born on August 1, 2008, and passed away October 29, 2025, at the age of 17.
Tyler is survived by his loving parents, Richard and Mandy Montee; and sister, Ashlyn. Tyler was the cherished grandson of Gwen Gunter and the late Mike Gunter of Honoraville, AL, Marlene and Jim Blossfield of Phenix City, AL and Marjorie Montee and the late Rex Montee of Camden, AL. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adored him dearly and a host of cousins who shared in his joyful spirit. Tyler was preceded in death by his uncles, Joshua and Lee Montee.
Tyler’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember Tyler for the way that he lived and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tyler had a compassion for animals and was known as the animal whisperer by his family. He loved playing video games and sports with his friends. He enjoyed traveling with his family, and always loved the beach.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL 36526, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 4PM – 8PM.

I am so sorry for the family and friends. Prayers for all. I did not know him but I am sorry for his lost.
Tyler was one of the kindest souls i’ve ever known, even with the short time we talked he always had such a warm and genuine heart. He helped me through such a hard time and i’ll always be so grateful for the time we spent. Though our time was short, his impact will stay with me always.
You were so loved and will be missed.
I worked alongside with Tyler at Moes barbecue and we would all joke around in the kitchen and have an amazing time, it’s sad to that such an amazing and sweet person was struggling in quiet this whole time. I hope that this donation will reach people who are in need of support and need a shoulder to rest on.

My heart is broken over the news of Tyler’s passing. I have been his hair stylist for years. Watching him grow into a precious and respectful young man, has been an absolute joy. We were always working on the perfect cut for his beautiful curls. He was excited about his job at Moe’s BBQ and said he was having fun with the guys in the kitchen. He would come in once a month or so- and we would catch up for about 20 minutes. Year after year that time adds up and I’m devastated that October 23rd will be the last 20 minutes to share with such a kind outstanding young man. My prayers and condolences go out to the entire family that lost such a huge part of their family. I will definitely be bringing suicide awareness to all of my clients from this day forward. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I will miss you buddy!!

He was such a kind person, I new him as a neutral friend but he was so nice whenever I talked to him. We miss you buddy!
