Sammie Coleman Bennett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 5, 2026, at the age of 94, after a courageous battle with illness. Born in the heart of Mississippi, Sammie’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and an unyielding passion for the things he cherished most.

Sammie began his career as a dairy farmer, a testament to his strong work ethic and connection to the land. As the years passed, he transitioned into home building, crafting residences with meticulous attention to detail that spoke to his commitment to quality and excellence. However, it was in the world of car sales that Sammie found his true calling. His enthusiasm for automobiles was infectious, and he built a successful career by sharing his passion with others.

In his personal life, Sammie was blessed with a loving family. He shared 39 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Sally A. Bennett. Together, they built a life rich in love and companionship. Sammie was a proud father to his sons, Ronnie Bennett (Cindy) and Russ Bennett, and he extended his love to Rachel (Leland) Mitchell, Greg (Patricia) King, and David King. Sammie is also survived by his loving sister, Sue Duncan of Montgomery AL. As a grandfather, he delighted in the laughter and joy of his nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. 

Sammie’s life was also marked by his kindness and generosity. He was a friend to all who knew him and a source of strength and support for his family. His gentle spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.
