Susan Marie Blackwell, 61, of Daphne, AL, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on June 25, 1964, in Vermont, Sue found her way to the South where she met and fell in love with her husband, Joel at work in Pensacola. The two were married and soon welcomed two daughters and a son.
Sue created a beautiful life and loving home for her family. Her love and dedication were evident in the way she has cared for her husband and children, family and friends.
Sue is survived by her husband of 39 years, Joel; her daughters, Laura Hill (Marc) and Katie Twine (Mark); son, Justin Blackwell; granddaughter, Ellie Twine; brother, Mike Stone; sister, Tammy Tamayo (Mark); along with family and close friends.
Sue enjoyed spending time at the beach, gardening, coloring, and story time with her granddaughter, Ellie. She was known to plan family parties and host holiday get togethers. Sue loved all things; Christmas and celebrating those that she loved.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL. There will be a time of visitation before the service beginning at 2PM, followed by the service time at 3PM.

Joel, Katie, Laura and Justin… words are not enough to tell you how broken hearted for this precious loss. Sue and I have been friends since kindergarten. I will miss her tremendously. She simply was the best. Sending love

I MET SUE MY FIRST DAY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL SHE WAS SO SWEET SO WONDERFUL JUST AN AWESME PERSON . SUE HAD A HEART OF GOLD. SHE ALWAYS HAD THIS WONDERFUL SMILE AND WOULD LIGHT UP EVERY ROOM SHE WALKED INTO. EVERY PERSON WHO EVER HAD THE CHANCE TO MET SUE LEFT FEELING SO MUCH LOVE. I went to school with Sue, she was always as cute as a button. Geoff and I were on a Kyle Petty motorcycle ride starting coast to California to Daytona for a special charity – Victory junction. We had stopped in Sue’s town, we met up with her. I will always cherish those moments and the pictures we have together. Joel, our condolences to you and your beautiful family you both created. ❤️
